The Texas Library Association is proud to present a comprehensive four-part series designed to enhance the customer service skills of frontline library staff. This series, "Frontline Fundamentals: Enhancing Customer Service Skills” aims to equip library workers with essential skills to effectively serve their communities and thrive in their roles.


Part 1: Tuesday, October 8, 1:00-2:30pm

Part 2: Thursday, October 10, 1:00-2:30pm

Part 3: Tuesday, October 15, 1:00-2:30pm

Part 4: Thursday, October 17, 1:00-2:30pm

 

1.     Emotional Intelligence: This session will focus on developing cultural competence and organizational skills, emphasizing the importance of diversity awareness, inclusivity, and attention to detail in providing exceptional library services.

2.     Communication: Effective communication is crucial for interacting with patrons, colleagues, and stakeholders. This session will cover verbal and written communication, active listening, and the importance of collaboration and teamwork in a library setting.

3.     Information Literacy: Library workers will learn to enhance their own information literacy skills and teach these skills to patrons. Topics will include locating, evaluating, and using information effectively, as well as developing technology proficiency and upholding professionalism and ethical standards.

4.     Crucial Conversations: This session will address problem-solving strategies and the importance of flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic library environment. Participants will learn techniques for handling challenging situations and ensuring the library continues to meet the evolving needs of its community.
